About the artist

I was painting alone in my room at age thirteen when I fell in love with watercolor. There was just something about the way the paint and water flowed together. I was both in control and not able to control all at the same time.

When it came time to choose a career my parents discouraged me from becoming an artist. The image of an artist starving in a garret, suffering for her art was upper most in their mind and they advised that I pick a career that was more stable and reliable. In college I majored in psychology, but always took art classes as my electives.

A few years ago I became the primary care giver for my mother. That brought me face to face with my own mortality. I realized that I better get serious about what was most important to me in life IE: painting.

Since then I have developed a daily art practice. I paint from life, I paint in my studio, I paint outside, I paint landscapes, still lifes, florals, people and abstracts. I’m trying to portray the ephemeral light and emotion of a particular time and place.
