I’ve been working on the series “Deciduous” for several years. I feel a kinship with trees. Forests provide rest and restoration as well as being the lungs of the world. The process of making a piece for this series starts with collecting leaves of interesting shapes and sizes. The sketch is made using a collage like aesthetic, a limited pallet is chosen and the painting is made in layers. The final layer often includes spattering and monoprinting using the same leaves that were incorporated in the original sketch.
